Is it free to list my taxi?
Yes — creating your booking page and listing in the Cambridge directory is free. Paid plans add extra tools, but you can run direct bookings without ever paying for one.
Do I need an operator's licence to take bookings this way?
It depends on your licence. Hackney carriage drivers can ply for hire and take direct pre-bookings. Private hire bookings generally need to go through a licensed operator — check with your council if you're unsure; Original Drivers doesn't replace that requirement.
Does Original Drivers take a cut of my fares?
No — 0% commission on every journey, always. You keep the whole fare; a paid plan, if you choose one, is a flat monthly fee for tools, never a percentage of your work.
What if I already work for a firm — can I still do this?
Yes. Many drivers keep firm or app work for baseline volume while building their own page and direct customers on the side — it isn't exclusive.

Are Original Drivers taxis licensed?
Yes. Every driver listed is licensed by their local council, DBS-checked and insured before their page goes live — the same standards a licensing officer checks.
Can I book in advance, for a specific time?
Yes — most drivers take pre-bookings for a set date and time, not just on-demand pickups. Message or call the driver direct to arrange it.
Do drivers take card, or cash only?
It varies by driver — many take card and bank transfer as well as cash. Ask when you book; a driver's page notes how they take payment where known.
What's the difference between booking here and calling a taxi firm?
You're booking the driver directly, not a dispatcher. You see their licence, vehicle and details up front, agree the job with them, and they keep the whole fare — no firm or app in the middle.
